A huge congratulations to the Balena Projects team for the successful execution of two remarkable heavy-lift projects. These operations highlight their expertise in managing oversized cargo with precision and efficiency.
At Houston Port, the team successfully handled the direct discharge of a 103,100 kg transformer. This complex operation required meticulous planning, specialized equipment, and seamless coordination. Using polyester round slings, steel chains, and wooden dunnage, they ensured the cargo was securely positioned for transit. The team worked closely with truckers and terminal staff to execute the discharge and transportation smoothly, delivering the transformer safely to its final destination.
Meanwhile, another major achievement involved the transportation of a heavy press machine from the Far East to North America through the Great Lakes ports. The project required chartering a vessel to transport 96 crates of dismantled components, including multiple heavy-lift pieces weighing up to 185,000 kg each. The team executed a flawless two-day direct discharge using tandem cranes, followed by a five-day inland journey where a 500-ton gantry crane facilitated offloading. Due to limited space at the assembly facility, the cargo was transloaded onto an SPMT before undergoing a two-week reassembly process.
These achievements reinforce the team’s expertise in complex logistics, heavy-lift transport, and operational excellence.
Congratulations once again on delivering outstanding results in the world of specialized freight solutions!
